EBICS, already used as standard throughout the EURO payment transaction area for data exchange between corporate customers and banks, is also gaining in importance in Switzerland. The standard permits the direct linking of payment transaction information to the ERP system, thus simplifying business accounting. Various major banks already offer their customers EBICS today. The other banks that have not yet switched to this standard are receiving an increasing number of requests to do so.
With ‘EBICS as a Service’ Swisscom and CREALOGIX have jointly developed a comprehensive solution enabling banks to implement EBICS quickly and easily irrespective of their size and banking software. The managed service encompasses the entire infrastructure, licences, the connection with core banking, operations and maintenance. Thanks to the higher service quality and security of ‘EBICS as a Service’, banks offer optimum market standards in terms of payment transactions and secure their competitiveness in the corporate customer segment. The solution is also of financial interest for financial institutions: the cost of the infrastructure and licences is shared between several participating banks, payment is made via a one-off annual fee and the service is further developed free of charge. Due particularly to the fact that the report formats can already today be transmitted via the standard ISO 20022, ‘EBICS as a Service’ supports banks in their forthcoming harmonisation of payment transactions. For corporate customers of the banks the service has a further benefit: thanks to the increasing digitisation of their business processes they save costs in terms of their maintenance, support and internal processes.
